  1. We went to a living history farm museum a few months back. One of the exhibiters was making brooms by hand. He asked our 9 year old, Will “Everybody makes something. What do you make?” Will said “Barns.” I wrote a blog about it. It was one of those things that makes you feel good about your choices.

  2. It is 3.88 acres, to be exact. I dreamed of doing this for 15 years or more and now it is not only happening but seems to have taken on a life of its own. We are documenting and sharing as much as we can of what we learn over at our web site for others who dream of the same. Come on by!

  3. We have really enjoyed watching your videos. You’re doing what we are stiving to do some day soon. How many acres is your new homestead?

  4. LOL. I believe it. A homestead looks like it needs alot of hard work and ingenuity…and that’s one that doesn’t include a whole pack of kids too! Your kids look very sweet and I think it’s awesome they are interested in everything. I would have LOVED to grow up on a homestead…all the hands on learning. Time with the folks. Animals all around…digging in the dirt…oh yeah! Thanks for posting…its inspiring.

  5. Before we got our pick-up truck, I used to have to take the seats of our 15 pass. van and put down a tarp in order to get sand for the mortar. The guy who sold me the sand looked at the set up and said “You gotta do what you gotta do.” That pretty much sums up our homestead.

  6. It’s nice to see the farm coming together bit by bit. The robot hand claw!! LOL…use what you got right!
