Your best bet would be to go to the courthouse and do a search for the name of the business you are questioning, and then also do a search by the name of the guy who owns the business. I renovate houses for a living, and I learned some hard knocks along the way. When I first started, I hired a contractor who gave me names of people who gave him glowing recommendations. After I hired him, he took off and didn't complete the job once he had rec'd his final draw. If I had researched the courthouse records and criminal records, I would have never hired this man regardless of his references. Now, I don't hire anyone without doing these checks first.
