One type of rug that is known for its beauty is the Turkish rug. Many of them are still hand-made in its native country, Turkey. Similar to other kinds of rug, a Turkish rug can be used as a floor decor, wall hanging or a furniture covering.

Floor Decor – As with any area rug, using a sticky pad or safeguard is advisable to prevent slipping accidents, especially if it’s on a tile or wooden floor. Turkish rugs are colorful, so using one to accent your floor is a real upbeat way of decorating. It will be an immediate centerpiece of any room.

First, as a floor covering. Turkish rugs have an assortment of designs that will enhance any kind of flooring. Even when mixed with carpeting, the colors will bring a festive mood and will make the room look more cheerful. They are complements for a neutral or dark-toned room.

Furniture Covering – A Turkish rug will make a good covering because of its thick yet light fabric. Utilizing it as a chair pad, cushion or simply a drape over a furniture such as a big chair, dresser and sofa will create dramatic results. As a chair pad, if you won’t feel bad cutting some piece of the rug, cut a portion and glue the slice of material on the chair’s seat with a strong glue or staple gun.

Turkish rugs are great finds. They may not have the same elaborate and fine details you would see in Oriental rugs or the artworks common in Persian rugs, but they have impressive geometrical patterns. Turkish rugs are made from wool or silk materials. Therefore, you are assured of a soft, smooth and luscious material.
